Her name was Rio

So we arrived in Rio a few days ago, surviving a 12 hour flight - in the middle seat (mike got the window), several movies (some painful), discovering the free BA tuck box (unlimited twixs) and breaking a brand new pair of headphones :(

Since then we have been exploring the city and taking in the iconic sights from our base in Santa Teresa, a historic, boho neighbourhood in the hills looking down on the city.

While you cannot underestimate the magnificence of standing underneath Corcovado on a clear day or sitting alongside the beautiful (and not so beautiful) people on Ipanema beach it is Santa Teresa that has captured our hearts.

The decaying neighbourhood has beautiful examples of architecture, a combination of modern and traditional art and graffiti, laid back bars and a real soul to it.

Today is our last day before we move onto Ihla Grande, an island a few hours south of here. Hoping to get up SugarLoaf if the weather clears up and looking forward to busting some moves at the street party in Lapa.
